Client was born in the Gambia as a member of tribes that practice Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), but her parents did not believe in it and protected her from it for as long as possible. As it became increasingly difficult to protect her, client’s father sent her to stay with her uncle in the U.S., as she was still under 18 years old.
