Client was charged with theft in March of 2022 for having received stolen property. Although the crime would have ordinarily prevented client from securing US citizenship for additional 5 years, Attorney Noaman Azhar was able to successfully convince USCIS that no conviction took place. Citing the relevant case law, Attorney Furqan argued that no adjudication of guilt occurred because the client completed a pre-trial diversion program, did not plead guilty, and successfully passed a polygraph test. On August 22, 2024 USCIS mailed out an oath ceremony notice for client. Client naturalized and is able to upgrade his wife’s visa application from spouse of a permanent resident to spouse of a U.S. citizen – saving approximately 2 years in processing time.
